first of summer

Summer is upon us! Or rather, upon me, because a lot of my batchmates are working this summer for their internship/OJT. I'm not taking mine yet because I have a handful of minors (prerequisites to going on an internship) left. Praise the Lord, hallelujah! I'm off the internship hook for this summer. Thank you, useless minors for being useful for once. :D Anyway, the first thing on our summer itinerary was to go to the beach, as always. My family went resort hopping in Bataan for a few days, and the first stop was Anvaya Cove. Apparently it's an exclusive resort or something because you can't spend the night there unless you're a member or know somebody who's a member. Luckily, my dad's good friend is one, so pack our bags we did, and off to Bataan we went! :D

The place is gorgeous. Seeing the resort and pool area for the first time felt like those movies set in Las Vegas, when the main characters enter their swanky hotel room/resort and they're all, "I could get uuuuused to this!" Odd description, I know, but I picture my life like a movie and in that moment, I felt like a frat kid celebrating his spring break at Caesar's Palace with his buddies. 8D

I don't really take pictures of food because I forget all sense of picture-taking when food is around. The food in Anvaya in general was okay, not amazing, not bad either. From experience, I think I can safely generalize that ordering food a la carte is more fulfilling than having a buffet. Unless you're after the quantity, rather than quality, of course. XD

There was a barkada of ducks in our backyard. It was really just those particular nine ducks who were always hanging out in our veranda area. Not that I'm complaining. Seeing white fluffy animals helped ease the pain of the separation from our fluffy shihtzus a little bit. Pets aren't allowed in the resort, and you know us, we're quite clingy with the fluffies. XD

So cute. (!!!)

In the back portion of our rooms, (plural because the maximum per room is 4, and we're 5 so we had to get another one, meh) there were two mini-beds - perfect for lounging around or reading a book! And the best part is this glorious view:

No kidding. New life goal: Have a lake/meadow/greenery/body-of-water-mixed-with-lots-of-grass view for my future house.

People can go rowing or just sit along the dock. Dawson's Creek vibes indeed.

The ducks were persistent. (If you want a laugh, Google "ducks wearing dog masks." Couldn't unsee it in real life XD)

Why did the ducks cross the road?

.. to get to the lake!

My lovely father and mother.

And that's it! That was long. Haha! I'll be posting another entry tomorrow (or today, if I'm feeling up to it) of our second stop in the resort hopping adventure. :) Over eagerly posting a lot now because I was gone for a while because of school. (If you want to see some of the fruits of my labor this term, you can check out my Tumblr)  Hope you enjoyed this photo set! :)

Life in 4x4

December so far has been messy - quite literally, as we've been doing a lot of spring (or winter?) cleaning at home. Being the huge sentimentalist that I am, you can imagine that letting go of old memorabilia - post it notes, movie tickets, and whathaveyou - would be like pulling teeth, but not this time. I'm of the belief that there ain't nothin' like the sound of a digital trash can being emptied out, so I just applied the cold ruthlessness in deleting files on my computer to real life. Quit with all the unnecessary nostalgia and attachment to clutter; it's the memories that count, at the end of the day.  Now that we're on the topic of memories and because I have no visuals to accompany this post, here's a dump of some of the photos I've posted on Instagram over the past few months.  When my family went to Calatagan / Pizza. Every single day.  Beef brisket noodles from Shi Lin (great now I'm hungry) / ice cream happiness / and Bianca...

Rainy School Days

I don't know what it is about school lately but every week's more dull than the last. Maybe I'm just exhausted from the everyday grind.

Simple

With one term left before I graduate and the million and one chips making themselves comfortable on my shoulder, I am thisclose to melting into a puddle of feelings (freshly squeezed from fresh tears).
